Thoughtful Valentine Gifts Your Significant Other Will Love

Thoughtful Valentine Gifts Your Significant Other Will Love

Valentine’s Day is a dedicated day to celebrate and appreciate your loved ones! Sure, the go-to chocolate, flowers, and giant teddy bear are super cute..but if you really want to wow your significant other and melt their heart, personalized, thoughtful gifts are the way to go! If you give any of these gift ideas below, the person who receives them will be so thankful you put in the time and effort to do this for them, and it will no doubt show how much you love and care about them! You can DIY almost all of these, so Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to break the bank, and the gifts will be appreciated the same as that diamond necklace would! And if you really wanna go all out, you can make one of these DIY gifts, and also get that necklace 😉 These gifts could even be modified a little and used for your Mom, Dad, or siblings to show your appreciation for them! Let’s get into the Valentine gift ideas!

1. Date Ideas Jar

Grab a mason jar and some popsicle sticks and start writing! Write in sharpie an idea for a date on each popsicle stick, or use small pieces of paper. When it’s time for date night, you don’t have to try to think of what you should do then, just draw a stick and it’ll tell you! This is a great Valentine gift idea for the indecisive girl, guy or couple that can never choose what to do or where to eat! Here are some ideas you can write!

-Go out to eat at (insert restaurant so the choice is already made!)

-Picnic in the park

-Day at the lake

-Recreate our first date

-Movie night

-Bake a cake

-Explore a new city

-Board game night

-(His/her favorite hobby)

-Bowling

-Anything that is special to your relationship!

2. Scrapbook/Photo Album

I feel like this one is pretty straightforward, print out a bunch of photos of you together or from fun memories or trips you made, and compile them in a scrapbook! If you’re not that creative you can just slide the photos into a photo album book, but it’s the thought that counts 😉 Label the photos and date them so you’ll always have those captured moments to look back on. Leave some blank pages so you can continue to add to the book!

3. Post-It Note Jar

Take two or three different colored post-it notes or pieces of paper and cut them into small pieces. For example say you have red, green, and yellow. Dedicate each color to a certain topic such as: red for ‘Reasons Why I Love You’, green for ‘Memories Together’, and yellow for ‘Date Ideas’. Then write out as many notes in each color that you would like related to that topic! Make a little key so the person receiving the jar knows what each color stands for!

4. An ‘Our Firsts’ Book

Think of all of the firsts you and your partner have experienced together…first kiss, first time watching Star Wars, first time trying sushi, and so on! Title each page a new ‘First’ and write a little blurb about that day, what happened, or what that first meant to you! If you have a photo of it, even better, tape it on the page! Even if you don’t have enough ‘firsts’ to make a whole little book, just write a list and your partner will be so touched you remembered all of those little moments you have shared! And if you’re married, you can do this same idea as ‘Sharing All Our Lasts’ and leave blank pages in the book so you can keep adding to it!

5. An ‘Everything They Love’ Box

Fill a box or basket with all of your significant other’s favorite things! Candy, drinks, nail polish, gum, fuzzy socks, gift cards, etc. If you want, you could label each item and write a memory you have of them related to that item! Add pictures, confetti, string lights, any little details to make it fun and cute 😉

6. Fleece Tie Blanket

This is an easy, thoughtful gift that everyone can do! It can get a little pricey depending on which fabric you buy and how much, but is worth it, these blankets are THE BEST! You can get fleece fabric in yards from a craft store like Joanne Fabrics, or you can order more custom fabrics from an online source like Etsy. How much fabric you need depends on how big you want the blanket to be, but for a full size blanket I would start around 2.5 yards. Normally, you put one patterned fabric on top, and a plain colored fabric for the bottom of the blanket. All you do is line up the two pieces of fabric on top of each other, cut 1 to 1.5 inch wide and about 3 inch deep slits all the way around the fours sides of the fabrics, and tie the two fabrics together in a knot. Once each slit is tied, the two pieces of fabric are connected and form the softest blanket ever! If that was confusing, there are lots of videos online to show you how!

7. Open When Cards

This is a Valentine gift that will keep reminding them how much they mean to you! Write on an envelope Open When…and then a scenario. For example: Open When you are stressed, you miss me, you need a laugh, on your birthday, it’s the last day of school, you need a kiss (put Hersey kisses in the envelope;) and so on for any situation you can think of! You could make three, five, ten, twenty envelopes, as many as you’d like! Then your significant other will have a nice note to open when they are going through that time or when that specified day arrives, and will be reminded of how much you care about them.

8. Love Letters

OK, maybe you think this is cheesy..BUT a handwritten letter, or even a short card, telling a person how much they mean to you might be better than any other gift you could receive. You only live once, and life is short! Don’t be afraid to tell that person how much they truly mean to you!

Happy Valentine’s!

best,
